Public Access Points in Bristol
As part of their IT in the
Community initiative, Bristol City Council is providing Public Access
Points at numerous locations throughout the city.
These Public Access Points (TouchScreen multi-media kiosks and
multi-media PCs) give access to the City Council's website and selected
other sites within Digital Bristol. Public Access Points in the libraries have been
enhanced, providing wider access to the World Wide Web.
Developing local content for local people is an important part of
the project and significant progress has already been made at several
of the community-based Public Access Points. The City Council is
particularly keen to work with other agencies to enable public access
to a wide range of electronic content, and is also exploring opportunities
of working with the Benefits Agency, the Employment Service and other
government agencies.
