Getting involved
Many people in Bristol and elsewhere in the country know that the maternity services could be improved, but feel powerless to change the current situation. If you are a midwife, you can support our work by asking to join our Midwifery Group. If you are a mother, father, health visitor, general practitioner, grandparent or any interested person who would like to see our vision realised, you can support our work by asking to join our Supporters Group. If you have specific personal or professional expertise that would help our campaign, you can support our work by asking to join our Advisory Panel. See below for a brief description of each.
Midwifery Group
The Midwifery Group provides an opportunity for interested midwives to get involved in and support our campaign. Members of the group provide support in various ways, including preparing for and helping at Birth Centre Bristol events, writing letters to decision makers and politicians, and telling their colleagues about our campaign. Midwifery Group members are kept informed of significant developments. The nature and extent of your involvement is entirely up to you. If you would like to join the Midwifery Group, or need more information, please contact us.
Supporters Group
The Action Group was set up in 2005 (see the News archive), and has developed to become the Supporters Group, providing an opportunity for any member of the public who is interested to support the Birth Centre Bristol campaign. Members of the group choose the nature and extent of their involvement, which may also include helping at our events, volunteering time or skills, writing letters to decision makers and politicians, as well as spreading the word and drumming up public support for our campaign. We keep members of the Supporters Group updated regularly through our database. If you would like to join the Supporters Group, or would like more information, please contact us.
Advisory Panel
The Advisory Panel is made up of senior health and business professionals, many of whom are eminent within their fields of work. Members of the panel agree to provide consultancy to the Steering Group and may be contacted for information, guidance and advice. If you would like to support our work by joining the Advisory Panel, or would like more information, please contact us. We keep members of the Advisory Panel updated through our database.
