1. Fishponds to Pucklechurch via Shortwood

Join the Bristol Bath Cyclepath. We joined at the 'Fish' statue in Fishponds. Carry on until you get to Mangotsfield Station then take the left fork along the Dramway. Leave at the Shortwood, Mangotsfield turning and go into Shortwood passing the Bridge Inn. Carry on up the hill and turn right carring on into. "Pucklechurch" on the B4665.

At the Fleur de Lys pub turn left and head northwards to Westerleigh Hill. Turn right (B4465 still) and take the second left towards Chipping Sodbury marked as the Avon Cycle Route. There is a good cafe on the right in Broad Street, Otherwise turn left at obelisk into Hatters Lane .

3. Sodbury Common to Horton

This will bring you out on St John's way. Across the road and to the right is Horton Road. Cross over the cattle grid into Sodbury Common and follow the road into Horton,

4. Horton to Hawkesbury Upton

You could have turned left in Horton, without climbing the hill (you have to eventually!), but we went up the very steep hill at Horton and took the second left and went along the top (Monarch's Way) to Hawkesbury Upton. You could also have taken the first left past Horton Court via Hawkesbury .

5. Hawkesbury Upton

There are two pubs in Hawkesbury Upton. The Beaufort Arms and the Fox Inn. The Beaufort Arms has excellent real Ale. Both do food and are busy. We often use The Fox for an afternoon tea stop on a Sunday. See also the Camra Guide to pubs in Hawkesbury Upton

6. Inglestone Common to Wickwar

Leave Hawkesbury Upton north-west past the Somerset Monument. You can't miss it - it's a very big 100 foot tower. Then turn immediately left through Inglestone Common to Wickwar. Turn left onto the B4060 and then shortly right onto the B4509.

7. Wickwar to Iron Acton

Turn left shortly afterwards towards West End. There take a left and then another left over the railway line. At the junction turn right to Rangeworthy. Turn left on the B4058 and cross over the B4058/B4059 juction into Iron Acton and the Lamb Inn.

8. Iron Acton to Fishponds

Past the Lamb turn right and go past the church. At the junction (White Hart opposite) turn left. Take the next turn left to Frampton End. At the main road go across and slightly to the left onto the road leading to the junction with the A432. Turn right onto the A342 and then turn left at the lights by the playing field just past the church on the right. Take the next right by the pub and go to Westerleigh Rd, crossing over to Lyde Green. Just past here you can join the Dramway section of the cyclepath, leading you to Mangotsfield station and the main part of the Bristol Bath Cyclepath. Turn right there and home.
