Worldwise Quiz 2007

Reading the news helps team win regional geography quiz!

For the last twenty five years schools in the region have competed fiercely in the Geographical Association’s Worldwise quiz and this year’s winner King Edward’s Bath put it down to their high scores in the rounds on “ geography in the news”.

The very knowledgeable and quick thinking team of Dan Anthony,15, James Gresderray, 16, and captain Keir Macdonald 16 attribute their success to putting in lots of practice, reading the news and being able to recognize mountains from any angle . They also had a prodigious knowledge of geographical features and easily identified the equipment used to measure weather, slopes, rivers and beaches.

The geography quiz held at Redland High School, on Thursday 8th November was hotly contested by 11 schools and the KES team carried off the Globe trophy and prizes from Field Studies Council, RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) and the local branch of the Geographical Association.
