Library Committee

The Library Committee manages access to the Society's Library, identifies new material to be purchased or exchanged, maintains existing stocks, and weeds out surplus material. They work to an annual plan and budget agreed with Council, and follow the advice of the Society's Librarian.

A current project is to establish a computer database of all journals, books and electronic media held by the Library.

Stocks of back-numbers of the annual Proceedings of the Society, and of Avon Bird Reports are held and sold by the Committee. The Society's archives are housed in the Library.

The Committee welcomes offers of gifts of significant natural history books and journals from members, but accepts material on the condition that if it is not suitable, or duplicates existing items, then it may either be returned to the donor, or may be sold, or otherwise disposed of by the Society."
