Society aims:

The Bristol Naturalists’ Society exists to stimulate a greater awareness of natural history and geology in the Bristol area. It is a thriving and friendly Society with something of interest for everybody, young or old, professional or amateur. It is actively involved in a long term programme of education, research and conservation. Each year its talks, trips and publications are enjoyed by hundreds of people wanting to find out more about our Natural World.

Big Butterfly Count:

The survey takes place from July 24th to August 1st. For more details and to record sightings go to their website at www.bigbutterflycount.org.

Wanted – Memories of wildlife from the Past:

Sarah Pitt, a BBC Radio 4 producer is involved in a new wildlife programme called Saving Species, and would like to contact people with memories of wildlife in the 1940s, 50, and 60s.

Constitution:

As you might be aware, a Council working party has been meeting in order to review the Society's constitution. This has now been done and a Draft Copy is available for download.

All society members are encouraged to read it as acceptance and adoption of this new constitution will be proposed at the AGM on April 10th. You are encouraged to attend.

Any comments prior to the meeting may be sent to the Hon Secretary.

Richard Bland has produced a summary of the report by the Sustainable Development Commission on the Severn Barrage.
