The
roots of RSVP started when Dildar was a kid. He was well known as a
child performer, singing at family gathering and community events.
This was futher when he joined family band called 'Dil Khush' (happy
hearts) in 1982. This band played sucessfully in the UK, when bands
like Alaap, DCS and Malkit Singh did not even exist.
|
| The band
'RSVP' was started in the early 90's with Dildar recruiting Chris Horn (a
talented studio engineer), his cousin Rajoo (playing Dholak) and his
brother Judge (who had to learn the bass from scratch). The band has
gone through many changes since then, but the RSVP you see now was
produced when Reg brought the Riff to the Raff of RSVP.

Here's a few
of the write up received from press:
'one of the hottest bands on the
Bhangra scene' (Asian times 96)
'the West country's own
superstars' (Venue magazine)
'Bristol's own top Bhangra band,
a wicked sound (Venue)
'RSVP have played with the best
in mainstream music' (AWAAZ
International)

RSVP has rocked many crowds.
From the Midlands melas and the large Bhangra gigs of London to world
music gigs in London, Reading and WOMAD. In addition to this they do
many night club gigs, both Asian and and mainstream. RSVP has
also supported the likes of DCS, ALAAP, the 'Dhol Foundation' and on the
mainstream acts like Fundamental, Peter Gabrieal, Labbi Saffri and Tony
Hadley (Spandeu Ballet). Below are a few pictures of the gigs that
we have done.
