TOTTERDOWN PUB GUIDE

This site will cover Totterdown Pubs. A proper assessment will be undertaken shortly by TACA and the results posted here.

Starting from the South and working our way north.

The George - Wells Road

This Pub can be described as not really being in Totterdown atall, but in Knowle, but it is one of the closest pubs to what is euphemistically known as Upper Totterdown. A large pub built around 1910. As far as I can remember has a reasonable choice of Real Ale.

Coming north, again on the Wells Road, is Totterdown's newest pub.

The Bush

Has magnificent views and a youngish clientelle. Not been in it personally, but will be reviewed in due course.

Way down now to the Bath Road we have:-
The Turnpike

Architecturally probably the nicest pub in the area. Built around 1831 on the Bath Road Turnpike as it was then. Somewhat overshadowed by the massive dual carriageway that now goes passed it. Again I have not been in this one yet.

Back into what is known as Lower Totterdown, we have four pubs.

The Oxford

Popular pub in the centre of Totterdown. I understand this is now under new management.

New Found Out

Unusual name - small cosy pub on Henry Street.

The Shakespeare

Probably Totterdown's best known pub well known for its music, both live and otherwise. Can be very loud!
Has its own web site (Click Here).

The Cumberland

On St Luke's Road - only tried this once - and the Real Ale was off! - however, we will be reassessing it.
