I enjoy travel in England and Europe and visiting good restaurants.
One of my favourite places to dine is Hobblers in St.Ives, Cornwall (photo below ) and
if you ever dine there let me know your views on the food and service which I have always found to be excellent - by all means mention my name to the chef, Chris . |

When in St.Ives, I have stayed in various guest houses but for the best breakfast, try
The Anchorage with Carol and Jim. |

In Bristol, my favourite restaurant for fine food is Howards, near the Nova Scotia pub.
The owner, Chris Howard enjoys circulating, chatting and having a drink with guests as the evening develops.
A recent "find" is the Merrymouth Inn between Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford under
the management of Tim and Andrew Flaherty - superb value for food and wine.
Of the many meals I have had in France, I regret that few have been memorable but two
that I have enjoyed were at the Chateau Montvillargene with its restaurant gastronomique near Chantilly and a little place called Bistro 21 in Gouvieux. Paris has invariably been a disappointment but I shall keep trying !!
AT LAST - December 2000 - I've found a good restaurant and in central Paris !!
It's called Le Bouchebem, near Forum des Halles and I enjoyed a very good green salad
starter, a main course of boeuf bourgignon(what else) and a desert of profiteroles all for only 90 FF plus a good bottle of wine to wash it down - excellent !(see pic-PhotoPoint)
Meals on mainland Spain have been again largely disappointing in Santander, Irun( apart
from the Basque desert), Pamplona, Fraga, Barcelona, Playa D'Aro, Lloret, Malaga, Puerto Banus etc
Please let me have your recommendations for any good restaurants in France or Spain
